Description

Scar Balm SPF 50 is an innovative product in a line of therapeutic formulations designed to promote scar healing and tissue reconstruction. The balm not only supports the regeneration and hydration process, but also protects the newly formed tissue from harmful UV radiation.

Benefits

  • Tissue regeneration: accelerates healing and reconstruction of damaged skin.
  • High UV protection: offers effective protection against UVA and UVB rays thanks to SPF 50.
  • Anti-inflammatory action: soothes irritation and promotes healing.
  • Hydration and elasticity: maintains the right level of hydration, improving skin elasticity.
  • Scar prevention: reduces the visibility of existing scars and prevents the formation of new ones.

Active ingredients

  • Medical silicones 80% – their regular use promotes the healing process and improves the appearance of scars.
  • Zinc oxide 10% – promotes epidermal proliferation and epithelialization, playing a key role in skin recovery. It also acts as a full spectrum mineral sunscreen.
  • Titanium dioxide: 3% – provides additional UV protection by supporting the action of zinc oxide.
  • Silica: 0.5% – supports the formation of new tissue in the skin by moisturising, regulating sebum secretion, improving tissue structure, having an anti-inflammatory effect and facilitating the absorption of active ingredients.

Research and effectiveness

Medical silicones such as dimethicone are commonly used in formulations for scar therapy. Their properties allow them to form barriers on the skin, which promotes hydration and reduces the sensation of dryness at the scar site. Studies show that regular use of silicone formulations promotes healing and improves the appearance of scars. Silicones work by reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL), which contributes to maintaining optimal conditions for tissue regeneration. Maintaining hydration accelerates healing and helps to reduce the appearance of scars by smoothing the skin and improving its texture. Studies suggest that patients using silicones sometimes see a reduction in the visibility of scars by 30-70% compared to a control group after a certain period of use (e.g. 12 to 24 weeks). Silicones are used in the treatment of both acne, post-surgical and traumatic scars. These preparations can be used in the form of gels, ointments or silicone flakes.
